HISTORY

In 1958, Robert R. Jacquart began making bank deposit bags in his home basement. In 1965 he moved his company, Jacquart Manufacturing, into his dad's vacant grocery store.

Robert R. hired one employee and continued to work his full time job as a fireman for the City of Ironwood. In 1970 Robert R. was joined by his son, Bob, who managed and then in 1983, purchased Jacquart Manufacturing and changed the name to Jacquart Fabric Products.

During the early 70's the company searched for expansion opportunities, and made the leap to creating custom boat covers, truck tarps and custom upholstery.

That all changed in 1982. A boat cover customer asked Bob to help him start a physical therapy supply catalog by making orthopedic pillows and supports. The opportunity transformed JFP as the company transitioned from a small custom cut and sew operation to a more formal production shop.

During the 80's the company made fleece hats, gun cases and machine covers while keeping the custom upholstery and canvas divisions fully operational.

Another significant opportunity came in 1988 when regional company asked JFP to build private label pet beds for their growing catalog business. The pet business contributed toward rapid company expansion during the 90's.

In 1994 JFP moved to its present location, starting with a 17,000 square foot facility and eventually expanding to multiple buildings occupying 90,000 square feet.

JFP's most recent expansion efforts included the purchase and development of Stormy Kromer and two other companies for their knowledge in the cover and case industries.

Today, Bob Jacquart remains our CEO, and with his daughters, KJ and Gina, continues to grow and evolve the company.
